Actinium-225

Actinium-225 (Ac-225) is a synthetic radioactive isotope that emits powerful alpha radiation and is widely recognized both globally and in our country for its proven therapeutic efficacy in targeted alpha therapy (TAT).

Ac-225 can be obtained through the radiochemical extraction of Th-229 or by proton irradiation of Ra-226 targets in a cyclotron.

It has a physical half-life of approximately 10 days. Thanks to the high-energy alpha particles it emits, Ac-225 has the capacity to directly destroy advanced-stage cancer cells that are resistant to other treatments.

Ac-225 is directed specifically to cancer cells via antibodies or peptides. Although the alpha particles it emits possess enough energy to break the DNA strands of cancer cells, their travel distance is extremely short. As a result, surrounding healthy tissues are exposed to minimal radiation damage.
